Bartimaeus
BARTIMAE'US ("son of
Timaeus").
A blind beggar of
Jericho who sat by the wayside begging as our Lord went out of the city on His last
journey to
Jerusalem (Mk 10:46). Hearing that
Jesus was passing, he cried for mercy, and in answer to his faith he was
miraculously cured and "began following Him on the road" (v. 52).
