Map of the Apostle Paul's Second Missionary Journey 51-54 A.D. View Interactive Map
This map reveals the areas in Asia and Greece where Paul visited in his second missionary journey. In Paul’s second missionary journey (51-54 A.D.) he re-visits a couple cities in Asia, one of which was Lystra where he was stoned and left for dead a few years earlier. He later has a vision that leads him over to Greece and Paul and his companions travel and minister in various cities in Greece (Philippi, Thessalonica, Berea, Athens and Corinth). Later Paul returns to Ephesus and finally to Caesarea and Antioch.Matthew 16:18 "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."
Jesus promised that He would build His church and that the "gates of
Hades" would not prevail against it. Paul had set out this second time,
around 51 A.D. to re-visit those churches that he had help to establish.
He was very aware that it was not his responsibility to plant the
churches, or to maintain and protect them, but that he was just an
instrument in God’s eternal purposes.
Paul could rest in the fact that the Lord would cause the increase, and
Paul had no doubt rested on this truth because the task that was before
him would have been impossible if it had not been for the strength and
guidance that was provided by the Lord.
Paul and his companions were continually persecuted by the Jewish
leaders from Asia and Greece, yet the Lord protected them in every
circumstance and Paul was determined to "run the race" that was set
before him.
