Etrusci
The Greeks called the Etruscans Tyrsenoi or Tyrrhenoi, while the
Latins referred to them as Tusci or Etrusci. In Latin their country was Tuscia or
Etruria. According to the Greek historian Dionysius of Halicarnassus (fl. c. 20 BC),
the Etruscans called themselves Rasenna, which was also found among their
writings. The
Etruscan language was spoken by close neighbours of the ancient Romans.
