Goat

The goat's ears were long and floppy. The goat had long black hair and that is why the black tents were said to be made from goat's hair (Song 1:5), and Davids hair was likened to a goats (1 Sam 19:13).

Goat meat was a favorite dish (Gen 27:9; Judg 6:19). To have sufficient goat's milk was regarded as a blessing (Prov 27:27). The goatskin was used for water bottles. The goat's hair was spun by women into cloth (Ex 35:26) for the tabernacle tent coverings (Ex 26:7).

The flocks of goats generally grazed on mountains or hills, that is where the description came:

IKing 20:27 Now the children of Israel encamped before them like two little flocks of goats, while the Syrians filled the countryside.
