Nut was the sky goddess or goddess of the heavens; consort of Geb. Osiris (god of the underworld and judge of dead) was son of Geb and Nut. Ra (god of the sun, the supreme god) was also son of Nut.

A three-god tableau portrays creation. Re, solar father of Nut, the sky, decides to put a stop to her continual embracing of Geb, the earth. Re slips Shu, the god of air, between them, thus making space. But Nut managed to have children, including Osiris.
