Jebusites

JEB`U-SITE, JE-BU`SI. The Jebusites were attributed to the third son of Canaan, Gen. 10:16. They originally inhabited the area in and around Jebus (Jerusalem, and were referred to as a mountain tribe or people. The Bible mentions in Judges 1:21 that the Jebusite stronghold was captured by the men of Judah, and later occupied by David, 2 Sam. 5:6; and 2 Sam. 24:23; and I Chron. 19:23. The name JEBUSI is only found in Joshua 15:8 and Joshua 18:16, 28.

Jebus in Easton's Bible Dictionary. Jebus - trodden hard, or fastness, or "the waterless hill", the name of the Canaanitish city which stood on Mount Zion (Josh. 15:8; 18:16, 28). It is identified with Jerusalem (q.v.) in Judg. 19:10, and with the castle or city of David (1 Chr. 11:4,5). It was a place of great natural strength, and its capture was one of David's most brilliant achievements (2 Sam. 5:8).

2 Samuel 5:8 - And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, [that are] hated of David's soul, [he shall be chief and captain]. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house. 

Exodus 13:5 - And it shall be when the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and theJebusites, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month.
