Historical Notes
- Gabriel is an angel of God who appeared to Daniel (Daniel 8:16), Zacharias (Luke 1:19), and the Virgin Mary (Luke 1:26-38).
- In Hebrew Gabriel is made up of two words Gavri (my hero) and El (God) which means "God is my Hero".
- In the Bible every appearance of the angel Gabriel was in reference to the Messiah.
- Gabriel stands in the presence of God.
- Some speculate that Gabriel is an Archangel but the Bible does not say.
- Gabriel is one of the two angels mentioned in the Bible by name, the other is Michael the Archangel.
- Gabriel is mentioned in both the Old Testament and New Testament.
