The Roman Empire in the Time of Jesus

During the time of Jesus Israel was part of a province within the Roman Empire. The Romans under the Emperor Augustus enjoyed a period of peace like the world had never seen before. But just after his reign duing the reign of Tiberius Caesar a humble peasant was born in an Israeli city called Bethlehem. His name was Jesus and he would be the One that would bring the true peace to the world. Rome had established quite an empire, they built good military roads, and they made the language of the whole world Koine Greek. The boundaries of the empire had spread far.

The Boundaries of the Roman Empire were:
North: The British Channel, the Rhine, the Danube, and the Black Sea
South: The deserts of Africa, the cataracts of the Nile, & the Arabian deserts
East: The Euphrates
West: The Atlantic

It would not be long before God would use the Roman Empire as a tool for the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Matthew 27:54 "So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God!"
