Robe of the Ephod
The robe of the ephod was of
blue color, woven without any seam. It was worn immediately under the ephod and
was longer than it, reaching a little below the knees, so that the priest's coat
could be seen under it. The blue robe had no sleeves, but only slits in the
sides for the arms to come through. It had a hole for the head to pass through,
with a border around it of woven work, to prevent its being torn. The skirt of
this robe had a remarkable trimming of
pomegranates in blue, red, and crimson, with a bell of
gold between each pomegranate.
