Shu was the solar deity; son of Ra and Hathor. Shu was the god of light and air who supported the sky.

A three-god tableau portrays creation. Re, solar father of Nut, the sky, decides to put a stop to her continual embracing of Geb, the earth. Re slips Shu, the god of air, between them, thus making space. But Nut managed to have children, including Osiris.
