The Dry and Hot Seasons

The months of April, May and June were known as the dry season and harvest time began. Barley always ripened a few weeks before wheat. The wheat ripened in the valleys in early May and in the hills in June. There were ripe figs at Jerusalem and olives at Jericho, and the grapes were ripening. Grass grew up to 3 feet in height. June through September were the hot summer months and it rarely rained in Israel during these months.
