Ancient Cymbals

Music with Cymbals in
Ancient Times
The cymbal made a loud noise by clanging two brass bowls against each other making a rhythm. Cymbal players were often seen with a company of musicians during processions.
"Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals."
Psalm 150:5
"And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with
cymbals, to praise the LORD, after the ordinance of David king of Israel."
Ezra 3:10
"Moreover David and the captains of the host separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with
cymbals."
1 Chronicles 25:1
"Also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having
cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets."
2 Chronicles 5:12
"And David and all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on
cymbals."
2 Samuel 6:5
