The Trinity/Holy Spirit
The Trinity is not mentioned anywhere in the bible, it is a man made term. That does not mean God is not three parts, God is three parts. God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit of God, His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost is not a person. We can talk about God as being a person because He made man in His image and we are all persons in His image. We can talk about Jesus as being a person because He was made flesh and dwelt among us as a person. But the holy spirit is never defined anywhere as being a person in the sense of having a description, height, weight, appearance etc.
The Holy Spirit is often referred to in the bible as being "the spirit of God", it is God's Spirit. It comes from Him, it can only come from Him. IT can only come FROM Him. IT is the spirit OF God. I stress those points because most of Christendom refer to the Holy Spirit as a person. The Holy Spirit is NOT a person, it is as it's name implies, spirit. It is in fact the very power or essence of Almighty God by which He created and creates, and performed and performs His works and miracles.
The bible teaches that after baptism we receive the holy spirit. It also teaches that the holy Spirit is indwelling, 2TI 1:14. That means it dwells within each individual person after baptism, and therefore the holy spirit cannot of itself be a person, a person being singular. So when ministers, priests, and people talk about "The Trinity" and refer to it as being three persons, referring to the holy spirit as being a person, they are wrong. They are wrong because it is impossible for a person to dwell in anyone, and it is impossible for `a person', singular, to dwell in numerous people at the same time. The Lord Jesus dwells in us THROUGH the Holy Spirit. From the time of ISA 63:11 it was written, He placed His holy spirit within. And in 1THES 4:8 it says God gives us His holy spirit, not many holy spirits, which would have to be the case if the person thing was correct.
It also says in ACT 10:44 that the holy ghost fell on all them which heard the word. How could one person fall on all of them at the same time? Or do you suppose he fell on whoever he could then returned to where he fell from and launched himself again? I don't think so. When however we regard this act as being the Spirit of God which fell on all of them at the same time, it makes sense. I mention this because the term, the holy Spirit fell on them is spiritual, but referring to the holy spirit as a person is carnal, -of man's thinking.
It is because of verses such as JOH 16:7, 13, 14 that confusion has crept in, but a little study makes things quite clear. Verse 7 refers to the Comforter, which is not the same word which is used for the holy spirit, as Strong's Concordance explains for us. That is not to say the Comforter is not the Holy Spirit, it is, it's just that the bible is showing us all of the different ways God's Holy Spirit is used and applied.
3875. parakletos, par-ak'-lay-tos; an intercessor, consoler:--advocate, comforter.
Whereas spirit or holy spirit or holy ghost is as follows.
4151. pneuma, pnyoo'-mah; from G4154; a current of air, i.e. breath (blast) or a breeze; by anal. or fig. a spirit, i.e. (human) the rational soul, (by impl.) vital principle, mental disposition, etc., or (superhuman) an angel, daemon, or (divine) God, Christ's spirit, the Holy Spirit:--ghost, life, spirit (-ual, -ually), mind. Comp. G5590.
We really do need to read the whole of JOHN 16 in order to try to understand not only what the Lord Jesus was saying but why He said what He did. Jesus knew His trial, persecution and death were imminent, He was feeling sad, very sad. Not because He was going to die, he was saddened because His disciples and followers would be saddened and grieved by His death. He was saddened because He knew that when His death finally came there would be a realization that He was THE SON OF GOD, and many many people would also be saddened, heavy hearted, and feeling guilty. Guilty because they didn't listen to Him when He was alive and guilty because some of them were responsible for His death. So He said to His Disciples in verse 7, "It is expedient for you that I go away:" (it is to your advantage), because then He could send the Comforter to them/us. The Comforter, the holy spirit, who helps us so much in our grieving, who helps us through all of the bad times, and comforts us in our hour of need.
It is God's own Spirit which consoles and comforts us in our hour of need. I have digressed a little but I felt I had to explain those things.
JOH 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
JOH 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement.
Notice in verse 8, it does not say he will reprove each person of sin etc., but, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement. Could one person (the holy Spirit) indwelling in those who have repented and been baptized, reprove the whole world? NO! Even the Lord Jesus (one person) could not do that being filled with the Holy Spirit. He was able to physically speak to the people and pass on God's truth but they didn't believe Him. It is happening however, Almighty God through His Holy Spirit reproves His repentant and baptized people, throughout the whole world, of sin and righteousness and judgement.
1651. elegcho, el-eng'-kho; of uncert. affin.; to confute, admonish:--convict, convince, tell a fault, rebuke, reprove.
I added verse 8 to JOH 16:7 in order to explain more fully what is meant in verse 7. The "him" in verse 7, "..I will send him unto you." must refer to Almighty God through the holy spirit because in verse 8 it says, "...he will reprove the world of sin, and righteousness, and of judgement." Only God could do that, and does do that, through the power of His holy spirit, -His very essence and power.
And now we move on to verses 13-15. At first reading of these verses it would seem the Lord Jesus refers to the "the Spirit of truth" as "he", and "himself", as if Jesus was referring to a person, a person in the form of the holy spirit. Well He was in fact referring to a person, the person of Almighty God. If we read verse 15 again we see that it explains verse 14 which in turn explains verse 13.
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.
John 16:14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you.
John 16:15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall show it unto you.
In verse 15 Jesus explains what the Spirit of truth is, and talking about His Father He says, "All things that the Father hath are mine...", and goes on to say, and take notice of this because it is important, "therefore said I,".
The Lord Jesus Himself stresses the point, "that He shall take of mine, and shall show it unto you.". Jesus stresses that point because in verse 14 He had already said, "...for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you.". Who shall receive it and show it unto you? Read verse 15 again it tells you who, -THE FATHER.
In those verses Jesus is saying, when the Spirit of truth is come to you/us, in the form of God's Holy Spirit, it, through God, who is the 'he', will guide you/us in all truth. He will speak only that which He shall hear (has heard) from the Lord Jesus, and will show the things which are to come. He will glorify the Lord Jesus, because He will receive all things through the Holy Spirit and show them to you/us. And in verse 15 Jesus shows us the threeness of God when he tells us, all things of the Father are His, knowing He was God's Son, and knowing that God the Father knew everything of Himself through His Holy Spirit.
Because of some church teachings and beliefs the Trinitarian teaching or doctrine is corrupt and misleading and should be clarified through the bible. There must be many people who do not have a concordance and it is a huge job searching for the relevant verses otherwise, so a list of all of the entries relating to the Holy Spirit, Holy Ghost, and Comforter, in the whole of the KJV bible, is listed. Although there are other references using different phrases in the bible, I believe those listed are sufficient to clarify the fact that the holy Spirit was not, is not, a person. I believe you should all read these entries and then you will come to realize the Holy Spirit can not be a person.
We should also realize that the texts from which the bible was translated are not written the same way as we read our bibles. The grammatical content, the sentence structure, paragraphs, and chapters are not the same and nor can be, being from different languages. Some words have been included by the translators in order for the bible to read more easily in the English language, and in the KJV those words are italicized. So do not think that every "he", or "himself" etc., was written in, word for word from the 'texts' from which the bible was translated because that's not true. The fact that they are in there and are taken literally by most people, it would seem, is part of the reason for the wrong teaching and belief of, `a person' , to mean the holy Spirit, and it needs to be corrected.
HOLY SPIRIT.
PSA 51:11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
ISA 63:10 But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, {and} he fought
ISA 63:11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses,{and} his people, {saying}, Where {is} he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where {is} he that put his holy Spirit within him?
LUK 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall {your} heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
EPH 1:13 In whom ye also {trusted}, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
EPH 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
1TH 4:8 He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
Notice in Psalm 51:11 it says, "...and take not thy holy spirit from me.". In ISA 63:10, "...and vexed his holy Spirit:". In ISA 63:11, "...he that put his holy Spirit within him?". In LUK 11:13, ".....heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit....?". In EPH 1:13, "...sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,". In EPH 4:30, "...the holy Spirit of God,". In 1TH 4:8, "...given unto us his holy Spirit."
Do you see any mention of a person in those verses? That's because there is none. Almighty God does not leave us in the dark, if He had meant us to read about, speak of, or refer to, the Holy Spirit as a person, He would have had it written into His bible. In PSA 51:11 for instance He would have had written, "...and take not (the person of) thy holy Spirit from me...", and similar references in other verses. In EPH 4:30 it talks about grieving the holy Spirit, and it says, "whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.". Are we sealed through a spirit person or through God's Holy Spirit?
HOLY GHOST.
MAT 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
MAT 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
Is this why ministers and people believe the holy Spirit is a person because they believe she was impregnated as normal humans are? Because that's not so, that's carnal thinking. She was with child through the miracle of God's Holy Spirit.
MAT 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and {with} fire:
How can one be baptized with a spirit person? Baptized with God's Holy Spirit surely.
MAT 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy {against}the {Holy} Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
MAT 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man,it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the {world} to come.
MAT 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
MAR 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
He shall baptize you with a spirit person?
MAR 3:29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:
MAR 12:36 For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
MAR 13:11 But when they shall lead {you}, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
So who is going to speak, a spirit person inside of the person, or God through His Holy spirit? God tells us in Jeremiah 1:7 that he would speak all that God told him. I am sure that was done through God's Holy Spirit indwelling, otherwise it would have been God's voice booming out, and Jeremiah need never have spoken.
LUK 1:15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.
LUK 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
LUK 1:41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
LUK 1:67 And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,
LUK 2:25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name {was} Simeon; and the same man {was} just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
Does this mean there was a spirit person upon him? Of course not. It means God's Holy Spirit was upon him, THE HOLY SPIRIT WAS UPON HIM.
LUK 2:26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ. LUK 3:16 John answered, saying unto {them} all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
LUK 3:22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
Here we have a bodily shape of the Holy Ghost, it looks like a dove. Should we have, and should we now, refer to the Holy Spirit as a dove?
LUK 4:1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
LUK 12:10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
LUK 12:12 For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.
JOH 1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
JOH 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, if any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
JOH 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
JOH 7:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet {given}; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
I have added JOH 7:37-38 to put verse 39 into context. Ask yourself are we supposed to believe we would/will drink of an indwelling spirit person? Are we supposed to believe that from this indwelling person, rivers of living water will flow? NO! It is from God's Holy Spirit we drink, and from who, rivers of living water flow.
JOH 14:26 But the Comforter, {which is}the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
JOH 20:22 And when he had said this, he breathed on {them}, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
In this instance are we supposed to believe that Jesus breathed out a spirit PERSON in the form of the Holy Spirit ON THEM? One spirit person on many? Jesus received God's Holy Spirit and passed it on to them in that fashion.

ACT 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

ACT 4:8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
ACT 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

ROM 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Here we are told the spirit person is not in us it is in our hearts, small spirit person. The love of God is in our hearts by the Holy Spirit of God not by a spirit person in us.

Gifts of the spirit person, or gifts of God through His Holy Spirit?

If you will hear His voice, the voice of Christ, not the voice of a spirit person.

2PE 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake {as they were} moved by the Holy Ghost.
Moved by a spirit person, or inspired by God's Holy Spirit?

JUD 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
The following are the verses which cause most confusion and misunderstanding in relation to the Trinity, and JOH 16:7, which I wrote about on pages 1 and 2. They refer to the Comforter and seem to refer to the holy spirit as he and him as if to a person but that understanding is wrong.
COMFORTER. As applied to the Holy Spirit.
The "he" in JOH 14:16, "..that he may abide with you forever." should be capitalized to refer to Almighty God, "..that He may abide....."
JOH 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
In the following verse it states that the Comforter is the Holy Ghost (Spirit) but the "he" in, "...he shall teach you all things," should again be capitalized to refer to Almighty God.
JOH 14:26 But the Comforter, {which is} the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
In JOH 15:26 the "he" in, "..he shall testify of me:" should again be capitalized to refer to Almighty God.
JOH 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, {even} the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
See pages 1 and 2 to read about JOH 16:7.
JOH 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
The word "spirit" also occurs 505 time in the whole of the KJV bible, I didn't print those however as it would have occupied too much space.
In all of the printed bible verses is there any reference to a person in relation to the Holy Spirit, not indication of, but reference to, description of? The answer is no, and nor is there anywhere in the whole of the bible. Men and ministers, because they themselves did not, do not, have God's Holy Spirit, have taught that the holy Spirit is a person, that's carnal. If they'd had God's Holy Spirit indwelling, and those who teach this wrong doctrine also had God's Holy Spirit indwelling, they would never have made or make that mistake.
I hope this has helped you understand God's truth more clearly and that you now realize the Holy Spirit was not, is not, a person, it is in every instance, the Holy Spirit of God. Before the Lord Jesus was born He was The Word, JOH 1:1. He was in spirit form, and He spoke, and it (everything) was created. It was created using the Holy Spirit of God, the very essence and power of God. Should we assume that another spirit person in the form of the Holy Spirit was with Jesus, or in Jesus, when He did that? I know that's not true and the bible confirms that. The bible says in JOH 1:3, "All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made." All things were made by Him, not by them.
Like so many bible doctrines, the Sabbath, Christmas, Easter, and the Resurrection, so the trinity has been twisted, corrupted, and taught in a misleading way, God's truth should always be taught. Almighty God is always right and it is up to us to prove that rather than just accept what are obviously wrong teachings.
